A number of enthusiastic members turned up for some or all of the time at this event at Harewood House organised by Jim Potts.
There was supposed to be a display of night flying on the Friday evening but since the wind speed was zero on the fpf (furlongs-per-fortnight) scale, a static display of lit-up kites was organised instead; and very pretty they looked too. Saturday was a little better and some kites were seen in the sky, but not many since the wind was now about 2 fpf, and it rained in the afternoon as well. Sunday was quite a reasonable flying day, but cold in the quite respectable wind (at times). Two kite-eating trees were in attendance.
The front lawn at Harewood is a nice flying site since there is plenty of space and a very handsome building to look at. The Courtyard Cafe is very pleasant, if somewhat pricey. The house is worth looking round; it has been partly redecorated recently with a Chinese theme. The planatarium is said to be worth a visit, but I didn't have time to go.
